Rise of the Chosen by Anna Kopp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This story takes a different approach of the "Zombie" theme, instead of becoming the mindless and flesh eating beings we are accustomed to see, in Sam's reality when someone dies happens one of two things: It comes back as a "Woken" or a "Chosen", the difference being that the Woken doesn't have control of themselves and kill everyone and the Chosen are those few that can retain control after they die.
When the truth comes out about how The Watch (organization that prevents the senseless deaths and provides food, shelter and security to humans with the help of the Chosen) runs the system behind the scenes a group of Chosen are up to the task to bring back the freedom they have always wanted, but will Samantha be able to trust these new found allies and make the right choice for everyone?
These is a very interesting story, loved the pacing, the development and uniqueness of each character, the direction of the plot and everything in between! This is an amazing book, I couldn't stop reading it, would love to read the second part as soon as I can.
Note: I received a digital copy of this title for an unbiased opinion and reviewing purposes.
