Save Aether

Save Aether (The Trinity Key Trilogy Book 3)Save Aether by L.M. Fry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This trilogy is definitely a recommendation for Young Adults and Science fiction/Fantasy readers.

Amazing ending to the Trinity Key Trilogy!!! One of my favorite Sci-Fiction/Fantasy stories, I love the pacing, writing style, characters and story line. In the journey of reading this trilogy I can say that I became attached to the characters and story to a point that I didn't want to read this final book because I didn't want it to end.

I thought the story couldn't get any better until the incredible plot twist surrounding Danu happened, I was shocked, thrilled and anxious to see the ending result and it didn't disappoint. Loved the ending, although it was a little sad it carried meaning, peace and freedom for the Trinity.

Congratulations to the author for making such a wonderful and captivating trilogy that I couldn't stop reading the books until I finished them. Looking forward to read the prequel novella and any other book from this story that might be published in the future (I think there is still hope).

Escape Aether by L.M. Fry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The last member of the Trinity is now known, but will she join her sisters to fulfill their ultimate purpose or will she continue on her father's footsteps? With Julia wanting nothing more than hold her piece of the Trinity Key to unleash her dormant powers and take her place as one of Danu's daughters many challenges swing her way. Meanwhile, Valera also part of the Trinity, is shocked with the reality of being outside Aetherland Isle (Where she has been her whole life) and finds herself not wanting to go back home but venturing the world free of her family, will Valera be able to follow her own desire or will she forfeit the little freedom she got and go back home to Theo and her family?

Excellent sequel to "Into Aether" this book is a page turner and I just love how the story line becomes more interesting and dense by each chapter!

In this sequel there is a lot more "magic" and a lot of character development, I was really surprised by this as characters undertook more serious roles in the story, while this is good there is a downside which is leaving out some other characters (I was really hoping to see more of Vivi, I'll just have to wait to read the third book).

The story is awesomely good! The pacing is fast and a lot happened in the book but its easy to keep up and very entertaining, I loved the first book and this one is no exception!.

Note: I received a digital copy courtesy of the author, thank you!

Dreamwielder

Dreamwielder by Garrett Calcaterra

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm in love with the lore of this book! A page turner with a plot so captivating and complex that will make you keep reading till the end. Definitely recommend the title to science fiction/fantasy and young adult readers.

In this book there are sorcerers, but not the typical ones that can control the elements, yes, there are firewielders but there is so much more to them, there are for instance beastcharmers and of course as the name of the title suggest's it, dreamwielders. I was very surprised with this kind of sorcerers with all the rules and limitations that dreamwielders have in the book, but on top of all of that I was even more surprised with the reality implemented into the story as to how the characters act under certain circumstances: How the rulers govern their kingdoms, how they prepare for war, how the ships work, how the climate can change for the worse and produce a storm or a heavy rain (consequently change the course of the plot).

I want to address the fact that I adore books with lore, with a kind of lore that I have to keep track of every detail to understand the story to its fullest and this book is exactly that, it has a backstory built in a way that you could make books out of them! Narrating wars, how the kingdoms rose to power, how the Empire was built, the life of the greatest sorcerers, what is beyond "The Five Kingdoms", the older rulers of each kingdom and so much more, and what's interesting is that to understand the plot you don't need to know a lot of the backstory, so you could just read the book not paying attention to the background story and still understand what's happening but instead if you read the backstory closely, that can make you see the book in a very different way, because the ending of the book is perceived with a lot more significance and creates a bigger impact to the reader.

Children of Icarus

29065483
Children of Icarus by Caighlan Smith

This book can be a little confusing and I have mixed feelings but its worth giving a shot. I liked the writing, setting of the story and the concept but the buildup and development of the plot threw me off, because of the strange pacing of the book its difficult to relate the ending of the book with the rest of it, in the beginning we see the main character not doing much (She has social anxiety) but it gets to a point that its frustrating because she just stops talking altogether and freezes, its much later on that she goes into action and realizes of her mistakes but it's too late, and she never reveals her name, not even thinks of it, the only information about it its that is very common and that's it, so for a plot that revolves around her identity (or fake identity) it doesn't make much sense.

In a nutshell, I liked the book but I think it could be better if the main character was more developed and took more action in the first half of the book, because to me it felt like the plot was happening to her and she did nothing of significance in it even though she is the main character, but what made me rate it 4 stars its the end! I think its amazing and I would like to read the sequel.

Just One Kiss

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have to confess, I LOVED this book, I read it in Just One Go at it and I must say that I am surprised myself, when I started reading it I wouldn’t have thought that I would spend the next three and half hours reading until I was shocked to see “The End”.

This title reminded me why I adore so much Romance/Comedy books, there was the awkward, funny, sad, dreadful and hilarious moments and I enjoyed every bit of it. It’s a perfect love story that is not hurried but it’s not slow paced (judging from the book size), the characters and the plot are just awesome and the twists, (oh, boy) the plot twists in this book are just so unexpected, fitting and perfect, there wasn’t any other way the book would have turn out as great as it is without the ever changing plot, well…the only thing that would have been better for me is if there was a sequel to this particular story.

The Couple Next Door

The Couple Next Door
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When Anne and Marco's six months old daughter Cora is kidnapped when they went to a dinner party next door everything becomes chaotic, as every secret and mystery of their family is slowly revealed when the investigation to find their daughter is carried out. When the detective suspects the very parents of the baby and more evidence starts to show up, the couple learns the hard way to trust nobody, not even their own family and each other because the last person you could think is behind this kidnapping is actually the mastermind of the entire operation.

I liked the plot and the characters but to me it was slow paced at the beginning and then it was fast paced and it went back and forth for a while and everything came together at the very end of the book and there wasn't a lot of explanation of the plot after that. The end is kind of a cliffhanger but I really liked the suspense/mystery of the book. Would definitely recommended this book!

Into Aether

29743178
Into Aether by L.M. Fry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves YA (Young Adults) and magic.

All Theo wants is to see her mother again, but she wasn't expecting the journey that would put her through, after her mom went on a work trip, didn't come back home on time and things were not adding up, Theodora takes it to herself to find her mom along side her aunt, following orders from some mysterious woman that knows where Theo's mom is, she embarks in a adventure that is literally out of this world.

This title is full of surprises, the plot just kept developing and getting more interesting and addictive! Love the characters and the setting (is so unique with a mix of modern and steampunk, I personally love steampunk). The writing style is fantastic, the way everything is described and the attention to details is not left unnoticed.

The Royal Gift

27156624
The Royal Gift by Drae Box

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At first it was a little hard to catch up with the plot because there was no backstory, no explanation of what exactly was happening, in the very first pages of the book the main character gets assigned a quest and you just have to take the plot from there. But i have to admit that after this confused state of not knowing while reading the book everything came together and started to make sense, the plot is actually a lot more simple that it looks and in fact I quite liked the book but the end of it was a little too predictable but still it makes a great interesting story to read.

Would recommend to anyone who likes YA books with a twist of magic and action, the book gets really good after the first pages so if it looks deceiving at first don't be disappointed.

Rise of the Chosen

30553316
Rise of the Chosen by Anna Kopp

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story takes a different approach of the "Zombie" theme, instead of becoming the mindless and flesh eating beings we are accustomed to see, in Sam's reality when someone dies happens one of two things: It comes back as a "Woken" or a "Chosen", the difference being that the Woken doesn't have control of themselves and kill everyone and the Chosen are those few that can retain control after they die.

When the truth comes out about how The Watch (organization that prevents the senseless deaths and provides food, shelter and security to humans with the help of the Chosen) runs the system behind the scenes a group of Chosen are up to the task to bring back the freedom they have always wanted, but will Samantha be able to trust these new found allies and make the right choice for everyone?

These is a very interesting story, loved the pacing, the development and uniqueness of each character, the direction of the plot and everything in between! This is an amazing book, I couldn't stop reading it, would love to read the second part as soon as I can.

Brainwalker

30346601
Brainwalker by Robyn Mundell & Stephan Lacast

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This a very amazing tale about a boy who is in love with science, he would ask just about any question to keep his mind buzzing with ideas and theories, however his dad has lost all will to experiment and try new things (although he's a scientist himself) because of a tragedy that occurred to the boy's mom in which she lost her life.

The boy jokes about changing his dad's brain but little does he know that's exactly what happens next when he's mind travels through a wormhole and ends up in the Brainiverse, the characters and the setting of this book are truly unique and very diverse, the plot is filled with fiction mixed with real brain concepts and puts everything into perspective from both fiction and reality.

Out of Order

Out of OrderOut of Order by Casey Lawrence

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this book we see the struggles of a teenager who is the sole survivor of a multiple homicide in which her best friends are killed, she is left with no one by her side, and the grief is too much for her because of all the pressure put on her to continue with her life when she just wants to give up.

Themes like bisexuality are touched upon, the fear of the "Bad Reputation" and the shame of being called "Lesbian" and not being able to explain what being bisexual is to family and friends are described with a very true nature in this book.

A little fast paced with a very captivating and emotional plot, this is a story that reflects the problems and situations that teenagers go through.

We'll Never Be Apart

We’ll Never Be Apart by Emiko Jean

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Right from the start I couldn’t stop reading this book, the plot is interesting without being complicated to understand, it makes you keep guessing what our main character Alice will do next in her quest of self-acceptance and overcoming grief.

Love the pacing of this book, along with the excerpts of a journal it makes a perfect balance between the backstory and the current plot. Excellent psychological thriller that will leave you reading to the very last word. Filled with twists “We’ll Never Be Apart” is one of the best thrillers I have read in a while.
